How to make your Curvite pieces last

Most of what shortens a garment's life happens in the wash, not on the body. A few small habits keep colour, shape and print looking the way they did on day one.

Wash cold, wash inside out

Cold water is kinder to elastane and stops printed panels fading at the folds. Turning a piece inside out means the print faces away from the drum, which is where most of the abrasion happens. This matters most for anything with a placed graphic — our hoodies and printed skirts especially.

Skip the dryer on anything ribbed or stretchy

Heat is what kills recovery in ribbed knits and activewear. A ribbed tank that has been tumbled hot a few times will start to sit differently at the hem and waist. Lay flat or hang to dry instead. It takes a few hours longer and adds seasons of wear.

Lace and fine trims go in a bag

Bodysuits and lace-trimmed pieces catch on zips and hooks. A mesh laundry bag costs almost nothing and prevents the one snag that makes a piece unwearable.

Fold knits, hang wovens

Anything with weight and stretch — knitwear, ribbed sets, jersey — should be folded. Hanging pulls the shoulders out over time. Wovens, coats and structured dresses are happier on a hanger where the drape can settle.

Store sets together

If you own a matching set, keep the two pieces in the same place. It sounds obvious, but sets get split across a wardrobe and then only ever get worn as separates. Folded together, you actually reach for the whole look.

None of this is complicated. Cold wash, inside out, air dry, and the pieces you like most stay the ones you keep reaching for.
